The line-up up at the time was Paul Barker, vocals, Pete Ball, bass, Keith Edhouse (Ed), lead guitar, Rick Spencer, drums, Peter Reeve (me) on keyboards and Noel on sax.
At the time I knew him, he lived in quite a nice flat in a large house in Elm View, Halifax and was going out with a girl I used to work with. I've forgotten her first name, but I think her surname was Keenan. He drove a VW Beetle Karmann Ghia convertible and worked in engineering for the David Brown group in Huddersfield.I l remember him telling us that he'd played sax as a session man on some of The Dave Clark Five records including Glad All Over and Bits'n Pieces 'cos Dave Clark's sax player couldn't hack it ! Because he had a smart London accent which contrasted with our simpler Yorkshire tones, we tended to take his tales with a pinch of salt! But I liked him a lot and I'm very sorry to hear he's no longer with us.
There's a video of stills of Pythagoras Squares on YouTube, but, sadly, it doesn't include any pics of Noel I wish I could tell you more about him - but, as the saying goes, if you can remember the 60s, you weren't there!
I can't work out how to change the authorship of this reply from 'anonymous', but if you'd like to contact me my name is Peter Reeve - I'm on Facebook or you can get in touch via alfiegb@talktalk.net. All the best.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5485358786145521226.post-40310765086434950062015-04-18T12:48:01.940-07:002015-04-18T12:48:01.940-07:00hi my father was noel chartres mcmanus

In '66, he moved north to work in engineering and played sax with "Pythagoras Squares", based in Halifax, for whom I played keyboards at the time. I left the band a few months later and I'm not sure what Noel did after that. Nice guy and I'd love to meet up with him if he's still around.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5485358786145521226.post-32992274025330900822014-07-19T09:04:39.590-07:002014-07-19T09:04:39.590-07:00Dick Brice went on to play drums for a semi-pro co...Dick Brice went on to play drums for a semi-pro country and western group called "The Ancient Lights".He later retired from drumming.
